DIGITAL STRATEGY

Core Approaches

At the Arcadia School our use of digital learning is based on:

  • Making sound and sensible choices about the use of learning technologies.
  • Technologies support communication and collaboration amongst our students and staff.
  • Technology-based learning should expose students to critical thinking and aid creativity in class.
  • Technology is used to enhance teaching and learning within and outside the classroom.

Device Allocation Throughout School

Class sets of iPads are utilised by teachers as and when appropriate to enhance teaching and learning throughout the school day.

We implement a one-to-one iPad programme for all Key Stage 2 and 3 students. From FS to Year 2, Arcadia provides students with the devices that they need. From year 3, our parents purchase the iPad. The device is managed through the Mobile Device Management system (MDM) and students are able to take the device to and from home and school. Parents retain ownership of the device and if the child leaves Arcadia, the device is disconnected from the MDM system. In Key Stage 4, we do offer our parents and student the chance to use a MacBook instead of an iPad as they begin to access GCSE content.

Our teachers are provided with powerful, professional Apple devices including iPads and MacBooks. This allows them to manage learning efficiently and effectively and to be delivering leading-edge programmes with empowering technology.

In Foundation Stage, teachers use ClassDojo as a communication platform to encourage students to achieve high levels of engagement and behaviour for learning. This programme enhances our ethos, which is based on classrooms being positive places where positive choices are valued and celebrated.

See your child’s learning and communicate with their teachers in one place. Seesaw is the best online learning platform that we use from Year 1 to Year 6. Parents are welcomed into their child’s classrooms every day, tracking their progress in real-time with the Seesaw Family application.

A suite of tools, all on one system, designed to support teachers, parents and children with every aspect of learning – at school and at home. We use this as our primary assessment tool so teachers can keep track of our students progress and attainment across all subjects. This helps us make sure that every child is reaching their potential.

iSAMS is used to help run our school more efficiently, to help teachers focus on what matters, and to transform parent and student engagement.

Nearpod is an example of a world-class digital learning tool that we use at Arcadia. Our teachers gain real-time insights into student understanding through interactive lessons, interactive videos, gamification, and activities — all on a single platform.
